With regard to social responsibility projects, the Company participated in the Teleton program for the sixth consecutive time, having donated a total of R$4.2 million over the last six years. It has also donated R$150,000 to Casa Hope.

The Company’s approach to social issues is not limited to donations, however. In recent years, around 240 Riachuelo employees have been involved in volunteer work, benefitting nearly 1,600 underprivileged children nationwide.

Guararapes-Riachuelo is also part of the Young Apprentice Program, which provides youngsters with opportunities for personal and professional growth. With more than 480 participants throughout Brazil, 70% became full-time employees at the end of the year-long program. Another important initiative is the Social Inclusion Program, through which the Company currently employs 568 people with disabilities.

At its plants located in the cities of Natal (RN) and Fortaleza (CE), the Company carries out a number of actions to preserve the environment, such as control of gas emissions and reuse of water and solid waste, among others.
