Note of Clarification about news in the press today

Barretos, December 18, 2012 - Minerva S.A. (BOVESPA: BEEF3; Bloomberg: BEEF3.BZ; Reuters: BEEF3.SA), one of the leaders in South America in the production and sale of fresh beef, live cattle and cattle byproducts, with operations also in the beef, pork and poultry processing segments, based on the news article published in today‘s newspaper hereby informs its shareholders and the market in general that the sales to Saudi Arabia represented approximately 2.5% of Minerva‘s gross revenue in the first nine months of 2012. We also highlight that the sales to Egypt, which restricted Brazilian beef only from the state of ParanŠ, represented approximately 10.0% of Company‘s gross revenue in the first nine months of 2012. Minerva has no plant in Parana state, therefore the company will not be impacted by the measure adopted by the Egyptian government.

In December 7th 2012, the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) maintained Brazil‘s classification as a country with insignificant risk of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) in an official communication, confirming that the country is free from this disease. This classification has been followed by important countries and consumer blocks. In addition, the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture is providing all necessary clarifications for any country that has requested information on the event, with the objective of ratifying the OIE‘s decision.
