Recife, August 16, 2017, Ser Educacional (B3 SEER3, Bloomberg SEER3:BZ and Reuters SEER3.SA), one of the largest private education groups in Brazil and the leader in the Northeast and North regions announces that the Ministry of Education (MEC) published on today’s Diário Oficial da União, under Decree 918, dated August 15, 2017, the authorization for UNAMA - Universidade da Amazônia to offer Distance Learning ("EAD") in Brazil.

With this accreditation, UNAMA will be able to launch up to 150 centers per year, bearing in mind that an additional EAD accreditation for UNAMA is still underway. With this, the Company will have a total of 700 EAD centers.

According to Jânyo Diniz, CEO of Grupo Ser Educacional, "the accreditation of UNAMA in the EAD segment is a fundamental step for the Company’s expansion plan in the North region of Brazil".

"This new accreditation provides a great competitive advantage to UNAMA, and consequently to Grupo Ser Educacional, as UNAMA is the best private university in the North of Brazil* and a brand that has extreme identification with the region", added Mr. Diniz.
