Insurance sector revenues grew 17.7% till October
According to data from the Superintendence for Private Insurance (Susep), insurance sector revenues from January to October totaled R$ 47.2 billion, which represents a 17.7% growth over the same period last year. These figures do not include revenues from health insurance, which is regulated by the National Healthcare Agency (ANS).
Acquisition costs, which basically refer to the amount paid as broker commissions, rose 15.2% between the periods under comparison. These totaled R$ 5.7 billion in the first ten months of this year.
Average loss ratio fell from 57% to 55% between October of last year and this year.
Accrued claims till October reached R$ 14.7 billion, only 3.8% more than in the first ten months of 2006.
