SulAmérica is the largest independent insurance group in Brazil, with operations in diverse insurance lines. According to SUSEP and ANS data in 2012, the Company was the fourth largest healthcare operator and third largest auto insurer in Brazil, in terms of premiums.
It joined Level 2 of BM&FBovespa‘s Differentiated Corporate Governance Practices in October 2007 and carried out the largest IPO by a Brazilian insurance group, offering 25 million units and raising R$ 775 million. It has been a partner of the ING Group since 2002 and has a free float of 33%.
In 2002, SulAmérica entered into a joint venture with ING, a Dutch multinational finance company which, as of April 04, 2013, directly and indirectly held approximately 36% interest in SulAmérica.
SulAmérica has 7.0 million clients in the portfolio of diversified products and services that include health, auto, elementary risks, and life insurance, private penstion and asset management.
In 2012, revenue from insurance premium came to R$ 10.6 billion. As of December 31, 2012, total assets managed reached R$ 21.1 billion.
The Company’s business lines are supported by diversified distribution capabilities that, as of December, 2012, included a network of more than 30,000 independent insurance brokers. The Company also has partnerships with more than 20 financials and retail institutions, that add 16,000 points of sale. SulAmérica believes that this distribution strategy permits potential clients to access its full product portfolio through the channel of their choice.
