Banrisul International IT Forum to unite international sector specialists

Banrisul will host the Banrisul International IT Forum in the Teatro do Bourbon Country in Porto Alegre on October 28 next. The event is part of a series of Bank initiatives to ensure that its IT area is fully abreast of the most advanced technology available in terms of management, client service and the banking business in general.

In addition, the people of Rio Grande do Sul will have the opportunity to attend lectures and debates on IT issues, showing how the Bank uses technology to leverage its business and share price, based on pioneering solutions and partnerships with major national and international firms.

The forum consists of three panels. The first is entitled "IT Infrastructure", which will discuss the future of technology, emerging technologies, the challenges facing CIOs, server virtualization and consolidation, ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), HPC (High Performance Computing) and Green IT. Among those firms taking part are the US-based Gartner, the global leader in IT market research and consulting, the French-based Bull, which designs and produces high-performance solutions and services, based on market standards the cutting-edge technologies, and IBM Brasil, which will also speak on management models. Banrisul itself will present the area’s new investments and the implementations within the management model to take account of the new norms, regulations and market standards.

The second panel is entitled "Systems Architecture and Development". Participants include representatives from IBM Latin America, who will give a talk on project management; from the Brazilian Information Technology Institute, linked to the Office of the Chief of Staff, who will talk about electronic governance, digital certification, the implantation of the NAC (Digital Certification Application Development Support Unit); from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), who will give a speech on software engineering and WEB 2.0; and from Banrisul, who will deal with SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) and the Bank’s management models.

Finally comes the international panel "Keynote Speaker - Smartcard, Multiapplication and Security", which will present the solution of the Slovenia-based Banka Koper, one of the most renowned financial institutions in eastern Europe in terms of IT. This will be followed by representatives of Smart Card Alliance, which unites firms providing smart card solutions; the French Gemalto, which produces card chips and is an international supplier of banking and retail automation equipment; and the American Verifone, which makes POS terminals for the payment of goods and services by card. All of these speakers will talk about smart card security issues, global application initiatives and means-of-payment tendencies.

At the end of each panel, the audience will be invited to take part in a debate with the speakers.
