Minerva’s Exports to Russia to Continue as Usual

Barretos, July 15, 2008 - Minerva S.A. (BOVESPA: BEEF3; Bloomberg: BEEF3.BZ; Reuters: BEEF3.SA), one of the market leaders in Brazil in the production and sale of beef products, leather and live cattle hereby informs its shareholders and the market in general that its plants were not affected by the Russian government’s temporary restrictions announced today.

The embargo was imposed on a competitor’s industrial plant in Rondônia due to the discovery of mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic bacteria. Such micro-organisms are part of the normal bacterial flora found in meat and do not represent a risk to human health, according to a statement by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Planning, also released today.

The temporary embargo becomes effective as of Monday, July 21, and has also been imposed on Russian imports from Argentina and Australia.

With its unwavering focus on exemplary product quality control, Minerva’s exports to Russia, one of its leading fresh meat importers, will continue as usual.
