Notice to the Market

Barretos, October 05, 2009 - Minerva S.A. (BOVESPA: BEEF3; Bloomberg: BEEF3.BZ; Reuters: BEEF3.SA), one of the leading producers and sellers of beef, leather and live cattle in Brazil, hereby informs the general market in general that, this Monday morning, during a public event in the auditorium of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation, with the presence of government authorities, representatives of meatpacking companies and the NGO Greenpeace, it signed the term "Minimum Criteria for Industrial Scale Cattle and Beef Product Operations in the Amazon Biome".

The agreement‘s main purpose is to eliminate deforestation in the meatpacking industry‘s production and commercial chain in the Amazon Biome. The six criteria listed in the agreement are: (1) Zero deforestation in the supply chain; (2) No invasions of indigenous reserves and protected areas; (3) The rejection of slave labor; (4) The rejection of land grabbing and agrarian conflicts; (5) A monitorable, verifiable and reportable traceability system; and (6) Implementation of the commitments throughout the production chain.

Minerva has always been in compliance with the environmental legislation governing the sale of livestock and has been historically strongly committed to issues concerning social, environmental and economic sustainability. The signature of this document ratifies the Company‘s policy of supporting the preservation of the Amazon region and complying with social and environmental regulations.
